![]() Whereas we matched the historical Ottoman sultans in previous episodes, we’ll one-up them in this one! This part is for those players who are trying to complete the Unify Islam mission, in which you unite all corners of the vast Islamic world under a single Caliphate once more. We also established footholds in Persia, Egypt, Libya, and the Caucasus, which we can use to expand further. By outsmarting Hungary, the Mamluks, and Venice, we became the undisputed ruler of the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Levant. In the previous part, we covered the remainder of the Age of Discovery and built the Ottomans from a major power to a powerhouse. If you have a couple of big allies, a coalition can still form but might not start a war because they cannot match you and your allies in strength. This is part 3 of the Ottomans made easy EU4 guide. The aggressive expansion modifier gets reduced January 1st of every year, so if you take a peace deal near Christmas that has more than 5-6 countries over -50 modifier, but a couple are close to -50 they could drop below -50 on January 1st and not join a coalition.Īnd I believe someone already mentioned allies. So if it's only 2 or 3 than you can possibly take more land. There need to be (I think, not 100% sure) 4 or 5 countries minimum to form a coalition. If it is there you can hover over it and see which countries will be eligible for joining one. One way to check this is when offering a peace deal, check for the coalition icon close to the send button. So your own income increases for fielding larger armies.Īlso as already mentioned, keep aggressive expansion below 50 or around 50. Use this to pay off loans and what's left you can use to invest in your economy like churches/workshops/markets and later manufacturies. A friend of mine gave a wonderful tip, don't only take land in a peace deal, always get war reparations and max instant money if you can. My first few times playing eu4 I ran into the same problem. A nation that's got a truce with you isn't eligible for a coalition, a nation that has positive relations with you isn't eligible for a coalition. likewise, if you're on the verge of a coalition forming (basically taking lands pushes you over 50 for some 4+ members) try and see if you can improve relations with them. Hiring a "improve relation" diplomatic advisor is a way to cool down the machine after overheating. ![]() Any CB that makes you lose stab is gonna pump up some AE too (and that includes no CB) - AE decreases overtime, and that is modified with your "improve relations" modifier. Some CB have some AE reduction in them (Reconquest CB early on for instance). But you'll get used to it!!Ī few more tips to manage AE: - Make sure to use the appropriate Casus Belli. ![]() This is super hard in the Holy Roman Empire, so usually people learn the game with countries that aren't in there (like Castile, France, Ottomans, England…). Try to keep your AE below 50 with everyone. That's pretty good if you're learning!! You did alright managing that war in the first place. 50 AE, negative relations, and 4 nations without a truce are your requirements for a coalition. Nations with positive opinion can't join coalitions against you. It'll have the diplomat automatically cycle through nations with AE and improve their opinion of you. ![]() You'll get reduced AE against Muslims (or other religions outside of your religious group), so it'll get easier once you're eyeing the Ottomans.įinally, put at least 1 diplomat on improving relations with outraged countries (hit the "B" key with nothing selected, then go down to diplomacy, and hit the "+" button). All of your neighbors are Catholic, so you're not getting increased AE for taking land from same-religion nations. Allies get reduced gain, as well, so be sure to ally some strong countries.Īs Hussite, you're in a good position to religiously expand. So grabbing a province or two in the HRE, then taking a swath of Poland will be more comfortable. AE is also higher among same culture/culture group (50%/25% - note your coalition is only German). Since you're Bohemia, try getting an ally or two, putting claims on Poland, and alternating conquests in and out. Expanding inside the HRE is also worse (50%) than elsewhere.
